CSG Beach Risk Tool

The Coastal Safety Group has developed a concept app to support risk management assessments utilising two existing frameworks being:

• Statewide Mutual Best Practice Manual - Signs as Remote Supervision, and

• Surf Life Saving Australia Lifesaving Service Level Analysis.

The app can be used by coastal land managers to make a long term risk assessment showing both the suggested signage and lifesaving service levels. A slightly modified Service Level Analysis is also available to produce a daily risk assessment that may help support open/close and extension decisions. A PDF report can be easily produced for record in whichever system you are currently using.

As with all such tools this app should be used as a guide to decision making only. However, it is available now reflecting two of the best practice approaches currently in use. You can access the app here. It is currently running via a tool called “Open as App” that you will need to download.
